If you've read the Race3+ product description, you'll have seen the terms "1:4 dilution formula," "low MEG formulation," and "advanced anti-corrosion additives." These aren't just marketing phrases — each one describes a specific engineering choice with a real impact on how the coolant performs. Here's what they actually mean.
The 1:4 dilution ratio means that one part of the Race3+ concentrate is mixed with four parts deionised water before use. So a litre of concentrate gives you five litres of ready-to-use coolant. This matters for a few reasons. First, concentrate storage and shipping is simpler — you're transporting the active ingredients, not five times as much fluid. Second, a concentrate gives you precision: you can ensure consistent coolant performance by mixing the concentrate only with deionised water, eliminating the mineral content that tap water or hard water can introduce. And third, a properly formulated concentrate, when mixed correctly, delivers a consistent protection profile across the full cooling system.
MEG stands for monoethylene glycol — the primary base compound in most modern coolant concentrates. It's what gives coolant its ability to raise the boiling point of the fluid above 100°C (so it doesn't vapourise under operating pressure) and lower the freeze point (so it doesn't solidify in cold climates). A low-MEG formulation means Race3+ uses a measured, targeted proportion of MEG rather than simply maximising glycol content. Higher isn't automatically better: excessive MEG concentration can actually reduce heat transfer efficiency compared to the optimum ratio. Race3+'s formulation is engineered to hit the sweet spot — enough MEG for reliable temperature protection, without sacrificing the thermal conductivity you need for effective heat transfer from the engine to the radiator.
The anti-corrosion additive package is arguably the most important part of what makes Race3+ different from basic glycol-deionised water blends. A cooling system contains multiple dissimilar metals — aluminium alloy engine blocks and heads, steel fittings, cast iron components in older engines, copper or brass in radiator cores, and rubber in hoses and seals. When these metals are in contact through a shared fluid, electrochemical reactions accelerate corrosion in a process called galvanic corrosion. Race3+'s additive package is designed to address this directly: inhibitors form a microscopic protective layer on metal surfaces, slowing the corrosion reactions before they start. Specific additives target aluminium protection (which is critical in modern engines), rust inhibition for ferrous metals, and cavitation resistance for the water pump.
The result is a coolant that doesn't just cool — it actively protects. That protection is why the replacement cycle is set at 9 months: the inhibitor package depletes as it works, and periodic replacement ensures those protective layers are always fresh and effective.
Race3+ is formulated to work across cars, motorcycles, SUVs, and commercial vehicles precisely because the same corrosion chemistry challenges exist in all of them. The dilution ratio, the MEG balance, and the additive package are all calibrated to deliver consistent protection regardless of engine size or vehicle type.
